Snarky Loon Brewing Company is seeking a brewer for its veteran-owned brewpub. Founded in 2021, Snarky Loon is located in Jenkins, MN “The Gateway to the Whitefish Chain”. Centered in north central Minnesota, the brewpub is in the heart of Minnesota’s Brainerd Lakes area with plenty of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. We pride ourselves in being a small batch brewery where “new friends become family.” Quality and commitment have been fueling our success and our growth. We are looking for homebrewers ready for a change in career or a junior brewer/cellar person ready to strike out on their own. Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Have a very strong passion for craft beer and brewing in general
- Must understand the brewing, cellaring, and packaging processes
- Be passionate about safety, quality and cleanliness
- Must follow established SOP’s and be willing to recommend process improvements
- Must be highly motivated, a self-starter and easily adapt to change
- Must display strong organization skills
· Have an open and flexible attitude and a strong desire to learn
- Be able to work independently but also be an integral part of the Snarky Loon team
- Possess a strong work ethic and ability to multitask.
- Be able to use strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively to all levels.
- Must be able to stay after shift to get work completed, work some weekends and some holidays
- Be able to properly complete production documentation
- Be willing to attend occasional beer events to represent Snarky Loon Brewing
- Be able to climb, stand, walk, crouch, and lift regularly throughout duration of shift, including continual dragging, carrying, and manipulation of hoses, pumps, parts, buckets, carts, tools, etc
- Be able to lift 65 lbs
- Be able to frequently reach with hands and arms
The brewer will be involved in every aspect of beer production and brewery operations from procurement to glass. This full-time position will consist of performing any and all tasks related to the brewery including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
- Materials management including organization and inventory control.
- Receiving
- Raw materials handling
- Adherence to and creation of recipes
- Production of wort
- Management of fermentation and glycol cooling systems
- Yeast harvesting and management.
- Transferring of beer.
- All aspects of cellar operations
- Keg cleaning
- Canning of crowlers
- Maintain cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Troubleshooting and reporting of equipment issues.
- CIP of tanks and general brewery cleanliness
- During slow season be willing to work the taproom
- Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
