As a Project Engineer, you'll assist in developing and implementing integrated plans for product development including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from design concept phase through customer acceptance. You will monitor the product / program / project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. You'll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and guide and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command / control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage engineering projects, ensuring successful execution from planning to delivery.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress to ensure adherence to timelines and financial constraints.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering teams, ensuring that designs, specifications, and deliverables meet quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, develop contingency plans, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and reporting.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings and reviews, preparing and presenting progress reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, including plans, reports, and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and professional development within the project team.

Qualifications You Must Have :

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, or a related field).
  • Typically, 12 years of progressive technical experience
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with proven experience in systems integration and testing projects, preferably within the defense or aerospace sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the systems engineering process, including requirements management, system design, and integration.
  • Proficiency in project management, including developing and managing schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Familiarity with preparing project estimates and technical proposals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience presenting to senior leadership and external customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedures.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
  • Qualifications We Prefer :

  • Typically 6-8 years of relevant leadership and / or project management experience
  • Understanding of Earned Value Principles
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, Commercial Derivative Aircraft, FAA / DOD Airworthiness Certification, and Cybersecurity
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative
  • Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and / or Program Management Professional (PMP)
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standard
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Knowledge of software development processes and tools.
  • Estimated Starting Salary Range : $172,510.67 - $237,202.18. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education / training / certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

    SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE :

    This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
