Snelling is recruiting a Purchasing Agent for an industrial plant in the Calera, AL area. The Purchasing Agent will identify, qualify, and contact potential vendors to receive bids or quotations.
The starting salary range for this opening is $60,00-70,000, depending on experience.
Essential Functions for the Purchasing Agent :
- Participate in bid evaluation and vendor selection and may suggest alternative vendors to secure discounts for bulk purchases
- Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Execute purchases and issue purchase orders.
- Assist vendors with the set-up and use of organizational purchasing / procurement systems.
- Examine and evaluate marketplace business conditions, vendor opportunities and new product introductions.
- Engage in sourcing to find alternative or new vendors to improve quality, cost and / or lead time.
- Regularly poll the sales force and vendor representatives for opportunities and concerns
