Job Description
The Claims Adjuster role at sni-financial involves performing within established operational procedures, interpreting and applying laws and regulations to case scenarios, and maintaining working relationships with customers, attorneys, insurance companies, and local authorities.
This position offers the opportunity to exercise independent judgment in making claims management decisions subject to final review and approval by a Claims Supervisor/Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, negotiate, and prepare settlement recommendations for various insurance claims, providing technical advice and assistance to intra-company personnel.
- Manage complex claim investigations, including coverage issues, liability, compensability, and damages, as well as all types of investigative activity or litigation on major claims.
- Monitor claims to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Analyze claims activities, preparing and presenting reports to management and internal business partners.
- Provide guidance and assistance to junior claims staff and other functional areas.
- Attend seminars and workshops to stay up-to-date on new developments and skills relevant to required duties.
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience as a claims adjuster handling cargo, property, casualty, contents, or auto claims.
- General understanding of diary-based systems to move claims towards completion.
- Familiarity with insurance and claims legal vocabulary, particularly regarding cargo claims.
- Knowledge of investigation, adjustment, negotiation, and settlement techniques.
- Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Advanced bilingual skills in English and Spanish for effective communication.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize and be detail-oriented.
- Ability to conduct effective negotiations with claimants, attorneys, and insurance carriers.
- Strong analytical skills, with ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to prepare variety of reports and meet consistent deadlines.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
