What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Superintendent/SSHO position at Snodgrass Contracting LLC?
Snodgrass Contracting is looking for a full-time Construction Superintendent.
Summary: Employees in this job function as professional building construction project Superintendents, Quality Control Managers (QCM), and Site Safety and Health Officers (SSHO) completing or overseeing a variety of assignments related to the construction, remodeling and maintenance of buildings and facilities in the field. A Construction Supervisor must be capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of any and all of these specific roles on a project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following examples of the work performed by this position. Other related duties may be assigned.
Act as company representative at the jobsite to supervise and manage the project in accordance with the approved plans.
Liason between subcontractors, landlord representative, client and management.
Maintain frequent and consistent communication with Project Manager.
Identify construction plan discrepancies and timely communicate potential problems to the Project Manager.
Exercise discretion and creativity in resolving construction discrepancies.
Supervise work activity of Snodgrass Contracting field labor.
Assist with preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
Experience with Federal government contracts, data reporting, and protocols highly recommended.
Site Superintendent:
Under general direction of the Project Manager, ensure that all phases of construction are completed on time, within budget and within corporate guidelines.
Verify that all construction activities are on schedule. This includes updating the initial project schedule as needed and relaying schedule changes to all parties involved.
Monitors construction to make sure that work is being completed according to schedule, recommends action, as necessary, to bring about adherence to schedule.
Verify that vendor purchase orders are on site and that procured material is properly accounted for, inventoried and secured.
Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
Responsible for accurate and timely completion of daily Production reports.
Quality Control Manager (QCM):
Develop and/or maintain the project submittal log.
Responsible for the review and submission of all material submittals required for the project and their compliance with the project specifications.
Inspect all materials delivered to the site for conformity to the approved material submittals and contract documents.
Schedule and conduct meetings associated with the 3 phases of quality control including preparatory, initial and follow up for all definable features of work (DFOW)
Verify the quality of work performed on the project by all entities involved.
Develop and maintain the testing plan and log.
Develop and maintain the deficiency/rework item log.
Responsible for accurate and timely completion of daily QC reports.
Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO):
Responsible for all aspects of jobsite safety.
Keep informed about OSHA/EM385-1-1 safety and health regulations affecting the operations they supervise.
Ensure workers follow safety regulations and work practices including using personal protective equipment.
Responsible for the development, review, and submission of Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs)
Reviews AHAs with personnel performing work to ensure complete understanding and adherence.
Conducts weekly safety meetings with all personnel on the jobsite.
Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of all safety related documentation including but not limited to near miss reports, mishap reports, incident reports, safety self-evaluation checklists, and safety deficiency log.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises jobsite employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Knowledge of contracting procedures.
Knowledge of construction codes, laws and contract documents.
Knowledge of standards of good work quality in building construction, alteration, and repair.
Ability to determine by inspection that specifications and requirements are met.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Ability to maintain standard of work quality.
Ability to evaluate construction and/or design problems and recommend solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively with others and initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with people of diverse backgrounds.
Ability to oversee building construction projects.
Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and conduct correspondence related to the work.
Ability to organize and coordinate the work of others.
Ability to set priorities and assign work to other professionals.
Ability to travel as needed.
Excellent punctuality and attendance is required.
Previous work experience with the Army Corps of Engineers is not required but preferred.
Education and/or Experience
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write thorough, complete and timely report and business correspondence and effectively communicate ideas and concepts in writing. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
Employees are required to bend and reach for extended periods and/or in confined spaces.
The job duties require an employee to climb ladders, stand for long periods.
This job duties requires an employee to work under stressful conditions.
Work Environment
Typical assignments frequently require that work be completed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
Exposure to dirt and dust is routine and may require the use of protective clothing and respirators.
Some jobs require and employee to be exposed to hazardous work environments.
Some jobs require an employee to work in an environment that involves exposure to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors.
Candidates must be able to pass a federal US government background investigation and favorably pass a drug test.
This position is primarily performed in a secured US military installation as well as working outside in a construction job site environment.
