Description
The Print Press Assistant aids the Communications & Multimedia Design department in its mission to deliver high quality and timely mailers or materials to the Tribe’s various audiences. The position assists with operating and maintaining all machinery and equipment relevant to printing and producing printed communications materials, in addition to physically preparing Tribal mailers. Successful candidates must be highly motivated, task oriented, have technical skills and experience with computers and printers, and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinate with members of the Communications department to print mail, envelopes, and any additional materials for the use of the Tribal government or other partners and organizations.
- Maintain the equipment when errors or issues arise by coordinating with the manufacturing company for necessary repairs.
- Manage inventory of press printer supplies including paper, substrates, adhesives, staples, and toner.
- Procure supplies such as paper, adhesives, staples, and toner and manage delivery to the Tribal Administration.
- Complete paperwork relevant to maintaining the lease payments and supplies for the equipment.
- Diagnose and remove any routine maintenance needs including jams that occur in the equipment to ensure the optimal performance of all equipment.
- Operate the computers relevant to the printing equipment and coordinate with the IT department regarding any issues with the computers or internet connections.
- Maintain department records in line with established records and information management policies and procedures.
- Perform general office support to the Communications department.
- Become familiar with all print shop equipment used within the department.
Additional Duties:
- Additional assistance with photography, videography, and digital design as needed.

Requirements
- Knowledge of or experience with Snoqualmie Tribe culture, traditions, events, and history preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to monitor and prioritize workload efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with computer and printer technology.
- Ability to work under pressure efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under stressful situations. Ability to be flexible with sudden schedule changes.
- Effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or job type.

Education & Experience:
Education Required:
- High School Degree. A combination of education and related experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions may substitute for the degree.
Experience:
- Experience in computer skills strongly preferred.
- Experience with writing and editorial skills strongly preferred.
- Experience with Adobe software and Canva preferred.
- Experience with layout design required.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
- Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
Tribal Preference:
The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe follows the Tribal Hiring Preference as outlined in tribal policies, including the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). TERO sets forth certain hiring preferences for qualified individuals who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe, as well as, in some cases, preference for certain family members of those individuals.
Additional Information:
- Hourly, compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $20.45 per hour.
- This position is a permanent full-time position and employment is at will.
