POSITION SUMMARY: The Client Resource Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive and supportive experience for clients and visitors at the food bank. The Client Resource Specialist serves as the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking food assistance. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, compassionate, and respectful environment while ensuring clients receive the resources they need. The specialist will assist with client intake, maintain accurate records, and connect individuals with appropriate services within the food bank and the broader community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As the first point of contact at SVFB, greet clients and volunteers with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Provide information about the food bank's programs, services, and eligibility criteria. Ensure clients are aware of available resources and referrals for additional support.
  • Assist clients in completing necessary intake forms. Answer inquiries and address customer concerns in a respectful and empathetic manner. Accurately record and maintain client data and statistics for reporting purposes in the database.
  • Connect clients with additional community resources such as housing assistance, employment programs, healthcare, and utility support services.
  • Maintain an updated list of local social service providers and collaborate with partner agencies to ensure comprehensive client support.
  • Assist clients with applications for SNAP and other benefits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients, co-workers, and agency in accordance with food bank policy and values.
  • Prepare and assist the Executive Director with weekly and monthly reports, grants, presentations, and statistics as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Passion for food security and commitment to serving individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse populations. Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and client database systems is preferred.
  • Experience in social services, case management, or public benefits assistance preferred.
  • Knowledge of SNAP, Medicaid, or other public assistance programs is a plus.
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish, Russian, or Ukrainian is highly desired.
  • Lived experience with food insecurity is highly valued.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.72 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week
