OBJECTIVE SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the position is responsible for directing and controlling all phases of the district’s accounts receivable, billing, coding and personnel activities for operations to ensure the district realizes an optimum cash flow and cash position. Oversee all areas of payer contracting, coding, billing, and collections, including payment analysis, reimbursement audits, charge master, contract compliance, pricing strategies, document management, billing and related financial/business analysis. Manages interactions with self-pay patients to implement patient friendly billing practices. Supports the CFO in the analysis, and negotiation of payer contracts, terms and rates.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Control the Business Office, Medical Records and Coding functions, effectively maximize cash flow.
  • Policy and Process Management: Direct and oversee the overall policies, objectives, and initiatives of the organization's revenue cycle activities to achieve operational goals and cash flow targets
  • Establish and control credit and collection policies to ensure quick identification and action on accounts requiring outside credit assistance and maximize collection and reimbursement for bad debt.
  • Manage and coordinate billing functions related to Financial Assistance Programs (Charity Care).
  • Maintain and facilitate close coordination with external billing company and internal billing, and registration departments to ensure accurate and timely flow of billing information.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, including payor and provider contracts, and provide accurate and timely contract management information.
  • Continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.
  • Metrics and Reporting: Track metrics and generate reports to identify trends and make recommendations for areas of improvement
  • Evaluate and implement appropriate new technologies and service lines for increasing revenue cycle performance.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s degree in business, hospital administration, finance or another related field.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Three years of healthcare management experience, including two years in a hospital business office setting in a management position.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 5 Years of increasing responsibility in healthcare finance and/or operational departments. Epic

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant certifications such as HFMA, ACHE, CCDS, CDIP, CRCE, CPA

 

SKILLS:

  • Demonstration of strong strategic and change management leadership
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis of complex contracts related to financial terms and other legal requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams to achieve organizational objectives
  • Advanced knowledge and skills with EMR and ERP systems
  • Ability to read technical journals, abstracts, financial reports and legal documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Hybrid Work Environment. With ability to be on site when necessary.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sedentary work requiring exertion of up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. Involving sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Requires ability to understand abstract concepts and recognize impact on business operations.

Eligibility Requirements - Employees regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week.

Employee Dependents - Your legal spouse or domestic partner, Dependent children until age 26.
