What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at Snow and Ice Management Co of PA, Inc.?
Summary of Position
We are looking for Heavy Equipment Operators with 24x7 availability. This is a great opportunity for retirees, self-employed trade professionals, laid off equipment operators and more.
This position will operate various snow equipment, including but not limited to: loaders, skid steers, sidewalk machines, and more. Additionally, they may perform sidewalk shoveling as needed. This is a part-time, temporary, seasonal position which will generally run from October through April and hours will vary depending upon snow conditions.
Essential Functions
- Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment used for snow removal, such as loaders, skid steers, etc. in order to clear snow from assigned properties.
- Clear snow and place snow piles according to the specifications of the customer contract.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment; report defects and repairs to site supervisor department.
- Communicate with site supervisor regarding any issues
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Ability to use a cell phone and Company applications.
Knowledge and Skills
- 1 or more years’ of experience running heavy equipment, such as loaders, is required.
- Snow industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Hold current drivers license, accompanied by a satisfactory driving record.
- Hold required licenses and/or certifications required to operate assigned equipment.
- Ability to work independently in inclement weather conditions.
- Flexibility in schedule vital, particularly during peak times.
- Must be readily adaptable to fast-paced, changing/evolving environment.
- Maintain a reliable and dependable attendance record.
- High level of integrity, work ethic, and confidentiality.
- Ability to use a cell phone and other Company applications.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Physical and mental endurance required for 24x7 availability during the winter season, including traveling to sites and being outside in winter weather conditions performing physical tasks.
- Physical demands needed to operate heavy equipment effectively for multiple hours at a time.
- Travel, mostly driving a motor vehicle to travel to properties during snow storms.
- The ability sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, ascend/descend stairs, and walk for various lengths of time during business hours.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds if needed.
