What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rigger / Deckhand position at Snow & Company Inc?
Snow & Company is looking for a rigger for our steam crane, The Boss 300!
As the rigger it will be your responsibility to:
- Keep all rigging and tools organized and in good condition.
- To maintain cleanliness and orderliness.
- Assist the Barge Master, Chief Engineer, Crane Operator, and Tug Crew.
When the Boss 300 is moored and not working, there will be daily tasks outlined by the Master or Chief that will need to be done effectively and efficiently.
The Boss 300 will always need to be kept in operating condition. At no time will a project be underway where it will take more than 2 1/2 hours to be ready to operate. The heavy lift industry is almost always spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous work. Be ready.
When it is raining, maintain inside spaces and when weather permits, maintain outside spaces.
It is expected that you will learn rigging techniques and terminology. Please view this as highly important.
It is expected of you that during crane operations you will be on hand to help.
You will know where all the tools and equipment are so you can assist in any way.
When heavy lift operations are slow you will maintain the Barge and Crane.
When the Barge is underway you will be performing tasks.
When the tug crews are on board and line handling you will help them and learn from them.
Don’t forget, the Crane Operations take priority over Maintenance Projects, but we need to perform our daily tasks regardless, so there will be overtime when necessary.
Typical Daily Tasks
