POSITION TITLE: SCHOOL CAFETERIA LEAD I
SALARY RANGE: $18.94 - $28.05
SALARY GRADE: Maximus Grade: 5
POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the designated Elementary School or Middle School Cafeteria operations including the preparation and serving of meals while maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines. The work is performed under the direction of the Director of Food, Nutrition and Wellness Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (examples of): The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Prepares meals according to menus, standard recipes, USDA, CSDE and HHFKA guidelines.
- Serves meals to students and staff according to USDA, CSDE and HHFKA guidelines.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen and other food service areas.
- Complete all assigned professional development trainings as assigned
- Oversees the work of up to 8 cafeteria worker I team members; provides instruction and training; plans, assigns and reviews work; and maintains standards of federal and state regulations pertaining to Child Nutrition Program; ensures compliance with all health and sanitation requirements.
- Prepares daily deposits and related paperwork. Prepares daily production order records, HACCP Logs and production schedules .
- Orders food and supplies; takes and maintains inventory; receives and stocks deliveries; rotates foods according to requirements.
- Performs other related functions as assigned or required by the Director of Food, Nutrition and Wellness Services, designee or Building Principal.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent with vocational/technical training in Food Service or a related field with three years of food service experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Position requires Food Safety Manager Certification within 90 days of hire/promotion.
LOCATION OF VACANCY: BOARD OF EDUCATION – SNOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. (Monday – Friday) 33.75 hours per week (185 days per year)
ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: Open to all eligible members of AFSCME Local 1467 who are employees of Middletown Public Schools who are interested in applying for a transfer or demotion, Departmental Promotion, or District-Wide Promotion must submit an application no later than the date established in this announcement. The Union and the BOE agree that eligible members of Local 466 (City) will have the opportunity to apply to BOE positions within this bargaining unit before opening the vacancy up to the public. While the BOE agrees to provide an opportunity for transfer to City employees in Local 466, City employees in Local 466 will not receive preference for any bargaining unit position over Local 1467 employees, nor is the BOE obligated to hire any City employees from Local 466 for any Local 1467 position.
