  • Pay: $22-24 per hour depending on certifications

  • Start Date: Mid-May with positions available through the summer season

  • Seasonal: This position is available from Late May to the Beginning of October, aligning with our winter ski and summer bike seasons. Seasonal work involves temporary employment tied to specific times of the year

Why Work with Us?

Assists Ski/Bike Patrol Manager in maintaining a safe skiing and biking environment by completing daily assignments and supervising patrollers. Conduct staff and safety meetings, assist with scheduling, provide care to those injured or in need of aid. Provide training  opportunities. Enforce policies and procedures and ensure all safety procedures are actively in place.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises daily patrol operations, assigns tasks, and collaborates with staff and departments on operational procedures.

  • Conducts daily staff and weekly safety meetings. Assists with scheduling and inventory management. Develops SOGs to ensure a safe skiing, riding, and biking environment. Provides basic life support and guest services, maintaining quality care for serious injuries. Coordinates with medical personnel for advanced care and transportation.

  • Enforces the Skier Responsibility Act and inspects slopes for hazards. Marks hazards, checks equipment, and monitors skier transport systems. Performs daily sweeps of trails and responds to hazards or accidents.

  • Coordinates snowmaking, grooming, and weather-related decisions. Provides guest assistance and transport during inclement weather. Maintains dispatch and incident documentation. Ensures facility cleanliness and security.

  • Assists with trail construction, maintenance, and removal of hazards. Coordinates with bike patrol for trail-related tasks. Arranges transport for injured guests and ensures EMS coordination. Maintains professional skiing/riding standards and current OEC certification.

  • Assists with lift evacuations, snowmaking, and other duties as needed. Supports team efforts and adapts to evolving responsibilities.

Guest complaint recovery

Able to deal with guest’s complaints and actions on the hill with courtesy and compassion. And able to make the final decision with the actions we will take to resolve the situation.

Ability to supervise an incident investigation.

The patrollers taking on this assignment meets with our risk manager and other necessary personnel periodically to keep abreast of current trends in lawsuits.  They take on the additional responsibility of performing our incident investigations, compiling parameters that define when an incident investigation is needed and meeting with our Risk Manager to review line items.

Evacuation Team Leader

The patroller who assumes this task is a participant in our yearly lift evacuation practice.  This involves maintaining our rope log, keeping evacuation plans for both summer and winter current to meet the guidelines required by ANSI, NSAA, our area’s insurance carrier and area management.  They must record rope usage, inspect the equipment for wear, order new equipment as needed and keep abreast of any upgrades in the industry. 

Driving:

  • Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program

Preferred Experience:

  • Job Specific Background check

  • Maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation card.

  • Current OEC instructor credentials.

  • Must complete the snowmobile and/or ATV (UTV) training course as well as be an approved driver on the Snowshoe Driving Program before operating a company vehicle.

  • Annual snowmobile and ATV (UTV) training refresher

  • Valid driver’s license to be considered for the Snowshoe Driving Program

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Outdoor Emergency Care Certificate

  • Senior Level Ski/Bike Patrol certificate

  • 5 years Ski/Bike Patrol experience

  • Advance/Expert level skier or snowboarder

  • Pay annual dues to the national ski patrol to maintain Outdoor Emergency Care certificate. If applicable pay annual and semiannual fees associated with maintaining First Responder or EMT license. Pay annual fees for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation refresher class.
