What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drug and Alcohol Chaplain position at Snug Harbor Rehabilitation and Recovery?
Job Summary: The Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Chaplain has the primary responsibility for the provision of spiritual care services to meet the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of clients. The Chaplain will provide spiritual assessments of clients’ spiritual needs, motivations, and background rendering appropriate spiritual care in a timely manner. The Chaplain will facilitate the development of the interdisciplinary group’s plan of care for each individual client to meet the specific spiritual needs of each person.
Responsibilities:
- Complete spiritual assessment on all clients admitted.
- Prepare spiritual histories for client summaries and treatment records.
- Perform spiritual services for retreats and prayer services held for team
- Participate on a multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans and team meetings
- Communicate with clinical and medical staff regarding client’s treatment and status.
- Provide daily chapel spirituality focused rituals with focus on the 12 Step Program beginning and ending each day with The Serenity Prayer.
- Serve as a spiritual care resource and advisor to management; provide spiritual mentoring and training to staff as requested.
- Maintains documentation that is legible, coherent, and neat, and is completed in a timely manner.
- Provide aid to clinical and medical staff in crisis situations with clients in support of resolving emergency problems; appropriately available when scheduled on call.
- Provide educational information to clients when needed.
- Make presentations to community as Snug Harbor hosts events.
- Participates in staff trainings as assigned.
- Maintains healthy boundaries with clients, families, and visitors.
- Adhere to HIPAA confidentiality policy at all times.
- Perform other duties as requested.

Qualifications (Licensure, Certifications, Registrations, Education and Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Theology, Master’s preferred; previous pastoral experience
- Educational requirement will be waved for certified experience in spirituality and 3-5 years counseling experience; experience working with drug and alcohol rehabilitation
