Position Overview:
The Vice President (VP) of Supply Chain is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance customer service, operational efficiency, productivity, and overall supply chain performance. This leadership role will oversee and drive the performance of procurement, demand planning, import/export management, and supply chain operations. The VP of Supply Chain will use past performance data to forecast business needs and establish functional strategies, objectives, and policies that create a resilient, agile, and cost-effective supply chain aligned with the company's long-term business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Supply Chain Management:
- Define and implement a best-in-class supply chain strategy that aligns with company growth objectives and adapts to market conditions, new business opportunities, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Continuously review and update supply chain practices to ensure compliance with evolving environmental policies, standards, regulations, and safety requirements, including documentation, labeling, and other legal obligations for imported goods.
- Oversee the procurement, import, and compliance processes for hard goods, ensuring adherence to all relevant safety standards, customs regulations, and international shipping documentation.
- Ensure that the supply chain team maintains strong compliance with safety standards, labeling requirements, and import-export regulations for goods coming across the US-Mexico border and other international routes.
- Lead the coordination and compliance of cross-border operations, with a strong emphasis on the challenges and requirements associated with crossing the US-Mexico border.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing, multi-location supply chain team, fostering collaboration across departments.
- Ensure cross-functional teamwork to achieve supply chain and business objectives.
- Hire, train, and develop employees, ensuring clear role expectations and professional growth opportunities.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing performance feedback while addressing non-performance effectively.
- Champion change management initiatives, leading by example and fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
General Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Monitor global changes in possible outages, duties, taxes, tariffs, or any other items that could negatively impact the company's supply chain.
- Maintain expertise in supply chain best practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Manage time effectively, balancing personal goals with team objectives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, promptly reporting any safety concerns.
- Be prepared for extended work hours during peak seasons and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 10 years of experience in procurement, logistics, and importing, with a focus on hard goods, safety standards, and compliance regulations, including experience with crossing the US-Mexico border.
- Strong understanding of compliance related to the importation of goods, including documentation, safety standards, and labeling requirements.
- Knowledge and experience with customs procedures, tariffs, and import/export regulations, with specific experience in cross-border trade between the US and Mexico.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing the importation of hard goods, including navigating complex regulatory environments, customs processes, and international shipping practices.
- Experience working with cross-border operations, especially related to US-Mexico trade, and understanding the specific challenges related to this border crossing.
