Equipment Operator

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our team at the Sny Drainage District. The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating various types of heavy machinery to perform tasks such as excavation, grading, lifting, and moving materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate various types of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders for construction, or other related tasks.
• Site Preparation: Perform excavation, grading, and leveling work to prepare job sites for construction, including moving soil, rocks, or other materials.
• Material Handling: Transport materials to and from work sites, ensuring proper loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
• Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operation. Report any equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team. Participate in safety training sessions as required.
• Job Site Coordination: Work closely with other operators, supervisors, and site workers to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth, efficient project completion.
• Site Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring equipment and work areas are clear of hazards.
• Documentation: Keep accurate records of hours worked, materials moved, and any maintenance performed on equipment.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification in heavy equipment operation or related field preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, mining, or similar industries is highly preferred.
• Skills:
• Proficient in operating various types of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and cranes.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on equipment.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy loads, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions and outdoor environments.
• Ability to operate machinery in confined or rough terrains.
