Job description
Snyder Engineering, Inc., is a multifaceted Steel Fabrication Company involved in the fabrication of structural steel components and specializing in miscellaneous steel structures of stairs and handrails.
We are seeking a hard-working motivated general laborer to join our team in performing a variety of physical task and manual duties set out by their supervisor. The position will include assisting with our paint shop duties of sandblasting, painting, load & unload trucks, transporting material on site between buildings, keeping the laydown area organized, help maintain tools and equipment and other duties as may be assigned. The candidate must be in good physical shape to perform a wide variety of task that require stamina, focus and attention to detail. They must also be organized, comfortable working with others and working independently, be able to follow instructions and carry them out efficiently. This is a full-time job with benefits. Below is a list of the required job duties and responsibilities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate construction vehicles – Forklifts and Skid Steer
- Help load and unload trucks and deliver materials
- Use power and hand tools
- Help with painting and sandblasting work as needed
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Assist with a wood burning heat system
- Performing inventory on supplies
- Keeping repair tools and supplies clean and organized
- Conducting routine maintenance on forklifts, paint sprayers and paint pumps
- Completing safety checks on systems and equipment
- Run errands and pick up inventory items as needed
- Help transport fabricated material from the fabrication shop to the paint shop
- Responsibly manage consumable supplies and raw materials
- Follow all company safety requirements and standards including but not limited to the use of respiratory equipment, protective clothing, protective lenses/goggles, steel toe boots etc.
- Recommend parts and equipment, as needed, to shop supervisor and purchasing manager
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Alert, focused, and meticulous
- Physically and mentally fit
- Strength and stamina to perform a variety of physical task
- Repetitive standing and walking
- Help with other duties as needed
- Able to operate forklift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, skid steer, etc.
- Initiative-taker who works well independently
- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
- High level of composure and good stress management
- Be able to strictly follow work instructions, have good attention to detail and be quality minded
- Must work well in a team environment and be self-sufficient when working alone
- The ability to work with minimal supervision from manager
- Work easily and skillfully with hands
- Stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed
- Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
- Reliable Transportation
- Physically – Lift up to 75 LBS; frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing 25 to 50 LBS
