The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist, Lead. This role will oversee maintenance operations at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Complex (YKCC) in Bethel, Alaska.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and non-preventative maintenance tasks on various systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
- Lead and supervise a team of maintenance personnel, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency.
- Analyze and troubleshoot maintenance issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as facilities management and engineering, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as maintenance management, industrial technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance leadership or supervisory roles, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting.
- Knowledge of maintenance management principles, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintenance certifications, such as OSHA or EPA.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of Alaska state regulations and guidelines related to corrections and institutional maintenance.
- Fluency in a Native Alaskan language, such as Yup'ik or Inupiat.
