PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The SOAR Site Director is an integral part of the SOAR Program and is a position generally designed for one who can help advance the mission of SOAR. Specifically the role detailed herein includes (1) Development & Coordination of the SOAR Program. (2) Interviewing, Hiring, Directing, and Evaluating SOAR Staff (3) Oversight of SOAR Site team (4) Volunteer Recruitment, Directing, and Evaluation (5) Integrate school philosophy within the SOAR program (6) Assist with Sustainability Planning (7) Social Media & Communication (8) Steward & Maintain Community Partnerships
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 21 years old.
College Degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
○ Prior experience with SOAR is preferred but not required
○ Commercial Drivers License is required within six months of employment
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Site Director reports directly to the Program Director and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
○Coordinate SOAR Program during the school year
○ Provide and maintain a safe environment for students and staff members
○ Develop programming with an emphasis on creativity and program enhancement
○ Keeping accurate records for attendance and reports for staff and students
○ Maintain good communication with the partner school (Principals, Counselors, Teachers)
○ Coordinate special activities, parent nights, field trips, community service projects
○ Be knowledgeable in all DHS & relevant grant/funding requirements
○ Maintain an accurate budget for the SOAR program
○ Get to know SOAR Students and their families
○ Develop schedules that incorporate student interests, required curricula and timeframes, and ensures their accurate implementation
○ Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of all SOAR daily staff
○ Oversight of SOAR Site team ○ Site Team includes Assistant Director and Daily Staff team members
○ Holding all staff accountable to policy enforcement and assisting SOAR in abuse prevention
○ Providing and documenting feedback and evaluation to staff multiple times a year
○Volunteer Recruitment, Directing, and Evaluation
○ Recruit and develop new SOAR Volunteers
○ Integrate school philosophy within the SOAR program to create unity of programs ○ Must become sufficient in school discipline techniques and train staff accordingly
○ Must understand basic “school language” to make student transition from school to SOAR more efficient and successful
○ Social Media & Communication ○ Create engaging social media content that communicates the SOAR vision and program to the community
○ Coordinate communication with families, school, and community
○ Fundraising and Program Advocacy ○ Promote SOAR to the community to build awareness for the need of the program in the community.
○ Participate in fundraising efforts individually and through leadership at the site.
○ Participate in planning for program sustainability through managing partnerships and grant expectations.
○ Steward & Maintain Community Partnerships
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & FUNCTIONS ○ Able to lift 50 pound box
○ Able to perform necessary CPR functions
○ Able to obtain and maintain specific certifications.
○ Able to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students
○ Able to follow directions and policy
○ Able to maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with students and staff
○ Able to maintain SOAR’s standard of excellence while on and off duty
HOURS & TIME COMMITMENT
During the school year the SOAR Site Director will work the following locations during the SOAR year:
1. The Jones Center
2. School Site
3. CWE Rogers Center
Training Commitments
1. 21st CCLC Training Commitments (if applicable)
2. School Partner a) Back to school inservice days.
This position requires flexibility in work hours, with occasional evening and weekend events.
