What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook position at Soboba?
SUMMARY
Responsible for supervising and administering food service for the Soboba Community, including Noli School, Preschool and Tribal Functions. Work alongside of the Tribal Chef assisting with events. Assemble meals from recipes provided by the Chef while maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Applies positive communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with Noli and Preschool Administration, at all times.
- Assists the Noli and Preschool Administration in developing annual goals and objectives.
- Works directly with Noli and Preschool Administration to learn all aspects of meal needs of students.
- Responsible for proper maintenance of supplies in the Preschool Building Kitchen to ensure sufficient items are ordered as needed.
- Responsible for ordering of product for use.
- Ensures overall professional appearance of all Preschool Building Kitchen area.
- Ensures excellent communication between all other departments.
- Ensures coordination of special functions of Tribal Administration.
- Food Safety: Following food safety and sanitation regulations, and ensuring food is stored properly.
- Food Preparation: Chopping, Slicing, and Seasoning ingredients, and preparing food for cooking.
- Cooking: Baking, Frying, Grilling, and Boiling food to the right temperatures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 2 years’ experience in food preparation and service required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Ability to deal effectively with all staff members exercising tact, diplomacy and patience at all times.
- Must work occasional weekends and Tribal functions outside your regular scheduled time
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to promote positive and professional image.
- Knowledge of proper methods of preparing foods in large quantities and skillful at meal preparation
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft products (i.e., email, word and excel)
REQUIRED
