SUMMARY
The Housekeeper works to ensure offices, bathroom, break room and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. This person has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the housekeeping field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the housekeeping job. Works under immediate supervision. This position is responsible for providing and maintain a clean environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES
Although other duties may be assigned, the essential duties include the following:
- Will perform cleaning duties in multiple buildings
- Clean offices and bathrooms on a regular basis
- Manage and protect the property of the Tribe, maintain inventory records and ensure that all equipment and supplies are secured and properly tracked
- Prepare rooms for meetings as directed; setting up tables, chairs, and equipment
- Follows a schedule for periodic cleaning of windows and other routine cleaning functions such as cleaning lights etc
- Routine/deep cleaning of a commercial kitchen and it’s equipment
- Spot clean carpets
- Mop and clean kitchen floors and other hard surface floors
- Trash removal as needed
- Maintaining the exterior of the building; picking up trash, emptying trash containers, cleaning the parking lot area and the boarding area, and sweep sidewalks
- Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in related area
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision
- Have the ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Must have a teachable attitude, be able to lift at least 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Must be a team player and help when needed in other areas
- Flexible hours are required; for tribal hall rental, special non-routine events
- Extensive interactive ability with other employees, departments, Tribal Members and supervisors
- Knowledge of Native American Culture.
- Able to multi-task
- Provide excellent customer service skills.
- Able to work independently
- Able to organize workload in order to meet deadlines.
REQUIRED
- A current California Driver's License or California Identification

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb an extension ladder or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
