ABOUT US:
Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians (SBLI) is a dynamic Tribe committed to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for processing and managing the payroll function for employees and tribal members, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.
SUMMARY:
The Payroll Specialist will support payroll functions, including the preparation, calculation, and disbursement of biweekly payroll in and monthly distribution to members using our payroll service provider (ADP) and attendance system (KRONOS). This role requires strong attention to detail and confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of biweekly payroll.
- Monitor all payroll earnings, deductions, and accruals.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Process garnishments, deductions, and accruals for PTO, vacation and sick leave.
- Prepare and submit necessary federal and state filings and payments.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files.
- Respond to employee and tribal member inquiries regarding payroll matters.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Finance to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Generate payroll reports and journal entries as needed.
- Handle confidential payroll information with integrity and professionalism.
- Support and assist with Tribal member FSA/GWP program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A four-year degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Foundations of Payroll Certification (FPC) required (must obtain within 9 months if not currently held).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with payroll processing and automated timekeeping systems (experience with ADP and KRONOS is a plus).
- Proficiency with Excel and payroll software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees, tribal members, and team members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
