Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Lead Counselor, the CSAC serves as the therapeutic counselor. In aspect of a residential substance abuse treatment program, by supervising, training, and monitoring the work of the client. In the provision of substance abuse treatment services and aftercare planning for assigned clients the CSAC provides individual therapy, group therapy, treatment planning, case management, client advocacy, counseling with crisis intervention and provides, coordinates, and arranges for family therapy services for program participants.

The CSAC collaborates with the Lead Counselor and other therapeutic team members to determine continuum of care for program participants.

  • Provides individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Review’s curricula and other program materials for clinical appropriateness.
  • Any new curricula or materials must be submitted to the Clinical Director for approval.
  • Supervises the assessment of all newly arrived residents; participate in scheduling all residents into treatment activities; and monitors and evaluates performance of resident participation.
  • Reviews and prepares all clinical documentation (treatment progress, treatment plans, and client coordination of care plan, etc.) and conducts regular quality assurance and quality improvement reviews to ensure that all appropriate record-keeping is performed on a timely basis.
  • Acts as the program’s liaison with families and offers recommendations for program development and improvement.
  • Provides ongoing client assessment to identify changing needs pertaining to the individual treatment and development strategy.
  • Conducts regular chart reviews, ensuring that all appropriate record-keeping is
  • performed on a timely basis and that all governing agency regulations are met.
  • Attends meetings called by the Lead Counselor and/or Clinical Director and participates in discussions concerning the revision, improvement and expansion of existing programs and offers recommendations.
  • Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and utilization review activities and makes recommendations to the program director for plans of corrections.
  • Maintains established performance and conduct standards in accordance with organizational expectations.
  • Interview clients, review records, and confer with other professionals to evaluate individuals' mental and physical condition and to determine their suitability for participation in a specific program.
  • Interview clients to gather information about their backgrounds, needs, or progress.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
  • Intervene as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers. Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
  • Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in client status. Modify treatment plans to accommodate client needs.
  • Participate in case conferences or staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
  • Coordinate activities with courts, probation officers, community services, or other post-treatment agencies.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs or plan treatments.
  • Train or supervise student interns or new staff members.
  • Train staff members in social services skills.
  • Supervise workers providing client or patient services.
  • Plan or implement follow-up or aftercare programs for clients to be discharged from treatment programs.
  • Develop treatment plans for patients or clients.
  • Assess individuals' degree of drug dependency by collecting and analyzing urine samples.
  • Administer drug screening Tests.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are rotating.

Required Education and Experience

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in the delivery of substance abuse treatment counseling with an understanding of the need for holistic treatment, including trauma issues and gender-responsive environments.
  • Certification as a substance abuse counselor.
  • Bachelor Level
  • Master Level

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Possesses clinical elements of substance abuse treatment.
  • Possesses knowledge of trauma, attachment, and relational models.
  • Possesses knowledge of methods for appropriate clinical documentation (Alleva Software) in a treatment setting.
  • Possesses knowledge of techniques for effective assessments and case management.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to analyze therapeutic processes and determine means of maintaining and/or increasing efficiencies.
  • Ability to explain important concepts to residents.

OTHER DUTIES

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.61 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
