Overview
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in the successful execution of multifamily construction projects. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, hands-on environment where quality and efficiency are top priorities.
As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, and field teams, assisting with project coordination, document control, estimating, and scheduling. You will gain valuable industry experience and be part of a team that values craftsmanship, innovation, and strategic problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities: Project Coordination & Documentation:
- Distribute and interpret plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and field teams.
- Prepare and maintain meeting minutes for OAC, Foreman, Safety, Team, and MEP Coordination meetings.
- Identify and resolve contract document issues by drafting and submitting RFIs (Requests for Information) to engineers, architects, or consultants.
- Manage and expedite the submittal process, ensuring timely approvals from subcontractors and owners.
Estimating & Bidding Support:
- Perform quantity take-offs (both digital and manual).
- Work with design-build subcontractors to develop high-quality scopes for the owner.
- Assist in the creation and distribution of Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to subcontractors.
- Support the development and implementation of estimate sheets.
- Identify and incorporate missing scopes into estimates when plan details are unclear.
Change Orders & Scheduling:
- Gather and analyze subcontractor price quotes to finalize change order proposals.
- Prepare change orders for review by the Project Manager.
- Develop an understanding of P6 Project Schedules and assist with project timeline planning.
Qualifications & Experience:Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience & Skills:
- Previous experience in commercial construction, working with a general contractor or developer.
- Multi-family construction experience is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and Word.
- Familiarity with BlueBeam and Procore is a plus.
- Highly organized with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to assess project durations and scheduling needs.
