What are the responsibilities and job description for the Soccer Coach position at Soccer for the Future?
Soccer for the Future is a nonprofit organization that hosts soccer programs for children experiencing cancer and other serious illnesses. We are a small organization but are looking for extra help at our Ocean City, MD location.
This location is unique, because there are times when we do not have programming because there are no kids. So the coach will need to be available the same day every week but they may not be utilized. Because of this we understand that this role may not be for everyone.
If these unique circumstances are okay with you, and you're ready to make a direct impact in the lives of children with serious illnesses, then this role is for you!
The ideal Coach would meet the following criteria:
- Must enjoy interacting with young children (5 – 12 years old) and be able to connect with them on their level, making the soccer session the best 40-60 minutes of their week. You must be very outgoing and animated; able to be silly with the children.
- Soccer experience is preferred, however, not required.
- Must be available one evening a week in Falls Church, VA from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
- Must be able to wear a mask while coaching even if outdoors, if necessary.
- Must be at least 18 years or older.
- Can arrive on time to each session, can handle a group of 2-5 children, keep accurate attendance, communicates well.
- Neat in appearance, friendly and courteous with staff and directors as well as parents, and is self-assured.
In addition to the above, a successful candidate must pass a Child Abuse History Clearance and Background Check. Along with being able to provide references from past work or school experiences.
Soccer for the Future will provide all the tools and support you need to lead a fun and uplifting soccer session.
Programs are set to start in June 2025 and will continue once a week through September.
