Summary

Job Description

The Clinical Internship Coordinator is responsible for the internship placement of students throughout the agency, providing supervision to graduate-level clinical students, maintaining relationships with educational partners, recruitment of interns, and providing onboarding and orientation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Role model appropriate healthy and ethical behaviors in all interactions, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Confidentiality Standards.
  • Provide clinical supervision for graduate-level clinical students and Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) registered clinical associates including Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) trainees, Master of Social Work (MSW) trainees, Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) trainees, Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselors (APCC).
  • Document clinical supervision provided for agency records.
  • Complete all required BBS supervisor forms and internship-related documents required by educational partners.
  • Establish and renew MOUs and Affiliation Agreements with educational partners of all levels.
  • Serve as the liaison between Agency and all educational partners (e.g. trade schools, community colleges, undergraduate, graduate programs).
  • Participate in internship interviews with students and program directors or managers.
  • Work closely with Program Directors, Managers, and Coordinators to support interns’ professional development.
  • Attend career fairs, practicum fairs, and other internship related events to recruit clinical interns and staff.
  • Present information about Social Model Recovery Systems and internship opportunities to students at various educational institutions.
  • Develop intern recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinate placement of interns of all educational levels throughout Agency’s prevention, treatment, and housing departments.
  • Provide intern onboarding and orientation training.
  • Support the professional development of students.
  • Address any student conduct issues and work collaboratively with the educational partners and agency programs to resolve problems.
  • Participate in all site visits and meetings required by educational partners.
  • Develop intern manuals, training plans, handbooks, videos, and other resources.
  • Maintain constructive relationships with Agency Directors, staff, interns, educational partners, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Track intern related data and provide reports.
  • Maintain familiarity and adherence to all regulatory expectations, ethical standards, and Agency policies and procedures, including Agency Core Beliefs.
  • Engage in Cultural Diversity initiatives throughout the agency and community.
  • Attend program staff meetings as required, agency meetings as mandated, and on-site and off-site trainings as directed.
  • Assist in ensuring an alcohol and other drug free environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education And Experience

  • Must be a CA BBS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Must meet BBS eligibility criteria to provide clinical supervision.
  • Must have completed BBS approved clinical supervision training.
  • Must have experience providing clinical supervision for a minimum of one year.
  • Must remain licensed and keep licensure unrestricted and current per BBS regulations.
  • Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field.
  • Three years’ experience in a behavioral health field.

Language And Communication Skills

  • Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to read and write English fluently.
  • Bi-lingual, bi-cultural preferred.
  • Ability to work in culturally diverse communities and supervise a diverse staff.
  • Ability to participate in fundraising and grant writing.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Excellent public presentation style and ability.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Basic proficiency in using a computer and other telehealth technology. Proficient in Word and Microsoft Office software.

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of 12-Step programs and/or philosophy.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • A valid government-issued picture ID.
  • If employee uses his/her personal vehicle to commute to work and/or parks on Agency property, a current California driver’s license is required.
  • If employee has an out-of-state driver’s license, he/she must attain a valid California license no later than 10 days from employment start date.
  • Must maintain current liability insurance coverage on personal vehicle.
  • On occasion, employee may be asked to use their personal vehicle to transport participants/residents to offsite appointments. Standard mileage rate will be reimbursed as applicable.
