Part-Time Case Manager

The Agency

Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity, Inc. (“SSA”) is neighbors helping neighbors. SSA provides food, emergency rent, utility assistance, and support services to individuals and families in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Midland Park, Waldwick, and Wyckoff, New Jersey. SSA is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

The Role

The Case Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of SSA’s client caseload including determining eligibility, providing agency services and referrals, maintaining confidential data, and providing reporting and other support to members of the Board of Directors. The position reports directly to the Agency Director and the Case Committee of the Board of Directors.

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Management & Reporting:

  • Manages client cases and represents SSA in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Communicates effectively with the Agency Director and Case Committee, and provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all case-related information necessary for the Case

Committee to properly function and to make informed decisions.

  • Develops new and maintains existing relationships with community organizations that may support the SSA mission.

Case Management & Pantry/Office:

  • Conducts client intake and recertification process; opens, closes, and recertifies client cases based upon the parameters set by, and in liaison with, the Case Committee. Refers clients to other services and resources when appropriate.
  • Acts as SSA liaison, together with Agency Director, in providing services to clients in a supportive, confidential, and nurturing manner.
  • Responds to client outreach in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates the voucher process to clients.
  • Monitors the pantry and client use of the pantry, together with the Agency Director, in whatever form it may take.
  • Maintains client data and other case-related information within Salesforce.
  • Assists the Agency Director and Board of Directors and committees thereof on any client outreach initiatives, including but not limited to, Thanksgiving, Holiday, childcare, camp, and food distribution.
  • Provides the Case Committee or any committee thereof with requested reports and data related to case management or agency activity.
  • Maintains job-related operational documentation.

Financial and Budgetary:

  • Operates within the approved budget and uses resources wisely in order to optimize

SSA’s financial position.

  • Supports the Finance Committee as related to case expenses.
  • Submit all case-related expense invoices to the VP of Finance and/or Treasurer.

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability to effectively serve a diverse client population with compassion and confidentiality
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups including members of the Board of Directors, fellow staff members, and community groups
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Knowledgeable in needs of client population and availability of community resources
  • Experience with databases (e.g., Salesforce) and other technology (e.g., websites,

DocuSign, Office suite)

  • Fluency in Spanish a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $32,500.00 per year
