Professor for School of Nursing and Health Studies

The University of Miami (UM) School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) seeks to hire a tenured full Professor.UM is one of the top research universities and academic medical centers in the nation and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) - a distinguished national organization comprised of only 3 percent of 4-year universities in the United States. Among nursing schools for FY24, the SONHS' scientific portfolio is ranked 16th in the nation for NIH funding. The School houses several notably ranked and accredited academic programs, including baccalaureate degrees in nursing science, public health, and the health sciences, as well as master's programs, post-master's certificates, and doctoral programs, including the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science) and DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice).Responsibilities include : Maintain an active program of research.Develop and collaborate on scholarship and research activities.Lead research funding initiatives, serving as principal investigator, project director / coordinator, or collaborator for external and internal grants.Maintain a program of research supported by external funding.Present scholarly papers at peer-reviewed conferences at the national / international level.Publish an average of two articles each year, as first or co-author in refereed and indexed journals or chapters in books.Contribute to guidance of scholarly projects of students within courses; and contribute to curriculum and course development activities (e.g., course coordination, course evaluation materials, development of simulations).Academic advising of students.Serve as mentor for early career faculty and peers.Participate in community and academic service activities.Serve as a member of SONHS committees and chair a committee or workgroup.Serve as a member on University committees.Maintain a strong presence in the academic nursing committee by taking leadership in national and international organizations and committees.Qualifications : A Research Doctorate (PhD) in nursing or a related field.A notable portfolio in advanced nursing science and education.A significant record of scholarly research and publications, plus a history of mentoring students.Proven success in securing NIH funding.National and international professional recognition consistent with the stature of a full professor.We have a particular interest in candidates whose research programs focus on health equity and disparities related to Women's Health, Child Health, Climate Change, Oncology, Gerontology, Healthcare systems, and end of life care.To apply : Candidates must submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, copies of 3 recent publications, and contact information for 3 professional references via the online application process.
