What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assessment Data Administrator position at Society of Actuaries Research Institute?
Your Purpose:
Under the direction of the Manager of Exams Grading and with input from Education leadership, the Assessment Data Administrator develops and uses computer programs to perform the grading and analysis of SOA examinations, and to assist with SOA test development and construction.
What You’ll Do:
- Administer and analyze grading using the SOA’s grading database (LMS1 - EduCentral) and SAS Software.
- Test and refine grading applications with feedback from exams services and Education graders to improve efficiency and usability.
- Explore the use of AI with the exams grading process and create efficiencies where possible.
- Setting the examination grading schedule — communicating/negotiating schedule with Examination Officers and staff members and distributing reports to Examination Officers.
- Communicating with paid graders and examination committee chairs/vice-chairs to ensure timely receipt of examination scores.
- Monitor the entry of examination scores by paid graders into the grading database while ensuring the integrity of the data and computer programs used for analysis.
- Producing and distributing examination grading analysis reports, second grading, and the setting of final pass marks. Perform preliminary performance analysis and verify accuracy of reports prior to distribution.
- Serves as an IT liaison between the SOA and the education and examination grading committees.
- Assist Exams Services with various administrative duties as needed to support the exam development and administration processes.
- Perform occasional analysis of historical and current examination statistics to help answer key questions posed by the SOA BOD, E&E Leadership, or SOA staff.
- Assist the Manager of Exams Grading, the Registrar and Director of Exam Analysis, and the Senior Manager of Exam Administration with various administrative tasks upon request.

What You’ll Need:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years programming experience. Working knowledge of statistics a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office, SAS software with Datastep and Macro programming, SQL and AI applications.
- Ability to independently develop and maintain computer programs using SAS software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral).
