University Pipeline Specialist
Pay Range: $55,000-$65,000/annually
This is a hybrid position that is based in our Chicago/O’Hare Area office. Applicants must live within a 100-mile radius of home office to be considered for the role.
Your Purpose: Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Candidate Engagement, the University Pipeline Specialist is charged with building and retaining a diverse pipeline, specifically at the university level, while also developing a new retention support program for candidates to continue on the SOA Track. Outreach would include the development of a student/professional ambassador program to support the SOA efforts at universities and partner organizations.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the creation and execution of innovative programs aimed at increasing the retention of candidates within the actuarial pipeline. This includes overseeing the creation of a peer community of support for identified candidates, which may include the development of in-person events, the establishment of virtual cohorts, and the connection of university candidates to employers and mentors.
- Provide evaluation of program outcomes in relation to established goals and objectives to gauge the quality and effectiveness of these initiatives and then iterate the programs as needed. The role will also track candidate milestones and explore additional innovative solutions to improve the candidate experience.
- Serve as a SOA liaison on candidate efforts underway at SOA affinity organizations, while proactively identifying ways to support and enhance partnerships and collaboration.
- Support the pipeline awareness efforts, including—but not limited to—creating a new high school awareness campaign through a third-party vendor, representing the SOA at key conferences tailored to our audience, directing pipeline outreach and communication, and cultivating STEM-related organizational relationships.
- Serve as primary contact for university students, including the pilot of a university ambassador program with diverse volunteers at selected schools. Work in concert with the candidate engagement team to facilitate outreach and programming initiatives aimed at institutions serving diverse student populations, such as community colleges. Also collaborate with SOA education team as needed in university outreach efforts to ensure consistent messaging.
- Present on the SOA pathway to university students, including the next steps in pursuing an SOA credential, with in-person travel to the universities, up to 30% of the time.
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed to advance strategic objectives and support broader SOA initiatives around university student efforts, including presenting to key leadership and the senior executive team on efforts and annual success measurements.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a candidate/member-facing role, communications, marketing, and/or business development.
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with using various technology platforms to engage student audiences.
- Ability to review copy for errors including grammar, punctuation, spelling, readability, and SOA branding objectives.
- Strong organizational and project management experience that demonstrates an elevated level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well with constituents/customers and demonstrate an elevated level of diplomacy.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
