Position: Processing Center Donation Associate
Reports To: Processing Center Manager
As our Processing Center Donation Associate, you’ll be the friendly face of our organization, welcoming and assisting our generous donors as they bring in their donations to support St. Vincent de Paul. Your positive energy will help create a warm and inviting atmosphere, encouraging continued support from our community.
JOB DUTIES:
- Receive Donations: Greet and assist donors as they arrive, making sure they feel appreciated and valued.
- Support Donors: Help donors unload their vehicles and carry donations, providing a warm and helpful presence.
- Provide Receipts: Offer receipts to donors, ensuring they have documentation for their generous contributions.
- Organize Donations: Pre-sort and organize donations into the established categories.
Efficiently, making the most of the available space.
- Quality Assurance: Check items for quality, look for any tears, stains, or other defects, so our customers receive the best.
- Assist Truck Drivers: Provide support to truck drivers when loading and unloading donations, ensuring a smooth process.
- Problem-Solving: Identify challenges quickly and seek support from management when needed.
- Trash Management: Transport trash to the compactor and operate it as necessary.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the donation area neat and tidy, creating a welcoming environment for all.
- Positive Interaction: Consistently demonstrate positive behavior and communicate donation policies and procedures professionally.
- Effective Communication: Use strong communication skills to engage with donors and colleagues alike.
- Team Communication: Foster positive communication with management and peers, encouraging a spirit of teamwork.
- Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures when handling equipment to ensure a safe environment for yourself and your teammates. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and promptly reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
- Flexibility: Work as scheduled, showing flexibility when needed to meet the needs of the team.
- Additional Duties: Embrace a flexible attitude, ready to take on other tasks as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Warm Welcome: Able to greet donors with a smile and make a great first impression upon their arrival at SVdP.
- Physical Capability: Must be able to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods, as well as lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Support is available for heavier items such as furniture!
- Machinery Operation: Ability to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, balers, pallet jacks, and dollies.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities and sound judgment are crucial for success.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with your team.
- Positive Attitude: A friendly demeanor and neat appearance are essential as you interact with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to Work in a Non-Climate-Controlled Environment: Comfort working in a dynamic setting where temperatures may vary is required.
- Safety Compliance: You must be able to understand and follow all company safety directives.
- Availability: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
