JOB SUMMARY:
The Bilingual Food Pantry Associate is part of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Food Pantry and Warehouse. This position works under the direction of the Associate Director of Client Services to maintain operational flow of the food pantry and Service Center; including the pantry warehouse, drive through food pantry, online orders and indoor operations. This role provides staff and clients with Spanish translation services as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Food Pantry Operation and Program support
- Assist Food Pantry Coordinator with day-to-day food pantry operations including drive through, online orders and indoor shopping
- Work to treat customers with dignity and respect
- Have a broad understanding of the programs we operate and the ability to answer client questions as well as community resources and referrals
- Assist staff and clients with Spanish translation services as needed
- Ability to issue vouchers to clients and answer questions regarding voucher programs
- Support the effort to create a more inclusive and equitable organization.
- Adhere to the Safeguarding Policy by ensuring timely completion of mandatory training, staying updated on relevant training modules, and undergoing the necessary background checks to maintain compliance
- Warehouse management
- Assist Pantry Coordinators with the organization, cleanliness and safety of food pantry warehouse
- Along with the Food Pantry Coordinator, work to ensure that all areas of the ground level of the Service Center (Food pantry, warehouse, waiting room, reception area ) and outside space are organized and clean
- Operate pallet jack and organize pallets of food
- Assist with accepting donations
- Work with the Food Pantry Coordinator to maintain operation of warehouse equipment
- Open and close the building securely
- Volunteer Engagement
- Assist in the support of pantry volunteers, helping them to have a safe and meaningful experience
- Perform duties of volunteer positions as needed
- Communicate and enforce pantry policies
- Fill in for volunteer positions as needed, including food gleaning at various locations around town
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and effectively interact with people across cultures, ranges of ability, ethnicities, and races
- Demonstrate the implementation of best practices as required by the SVdP Safeguarding policy when interacting with children and vulnerable adults
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Language Competency: Ability to speak Spanish required
Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license required
Technology/Equipment: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Human Services background or related field or equivalent experience
Experience and/or Training

- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift/move up to 50lbs with assistance.
- The employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties
- The employee must have a valid drivers license
- This position regularly works outdoors in all types of weather conditions
The food pantry and warehouse working environment may contain dust, debris or allergens commonly associated with all manner of donated goods. Certain areas of the warehouse are only partially climate controlled.
