Position:         Retail Donation Associate

Reports To:    Store Manager

As our Retail Donation Associate, you are the friendly face of our organization, welcoming and assisting our generous donors as they bring in their donations to support St. Vincent de Paul. Your positive energy creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, encouraging continued support from our community and helping to further our mission.

JOB DUTIES:

• Receive and Support Donations: Greet and assist donors upon arrival, help unload their vehicles, and ensure they feel appreciated. Provide receipts for all donations and maintain positive interactions throughout the donation process.
• Organize and Process Donations: Pre-sort and efficiently organize donations into established categories. Check items for quality, identifying any defects to ensure our customers receive only the best.
• Assist Truck Drivers: Provide support to truck drivers when loading and unloading donations, ensuring a smooth process.
• Positive Team Communication: Foster a spirit of teamwork by consistently demonstrating positive behavior and effectively engaging with donors and colleagues, while professionally communicating donation policies and procedures.
• Problem-Solving: Identify challenges quickly and seek support from management when needed.
• Trash Management: Transport trash to the dumpsters.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the donation area and backroom neat and tidy, creating a welcoming environment for all.
• Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures when handling equipment to ensure a safe environment for yourself and your teammates. Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and promptly reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
• Flexibility: Work as scheduled, showing flexibility when needed to meet the needs of the team.
• Additional Duties: Embrace a flexible attitude, ready to take on other tasks as assigned.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Warm Welcome: Able to greet donors with a smile and make a great first impression upon their arrival at SVdP.
• Physical Capability: Must be able to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods, as well as lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Support is available for heavier items such as furniture!
• Machinery Operation: Ability to safely operate equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and walkie-stacker.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities and sound judgment are crucial for success.
• Communication Skills: Good communication skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively with your team.
• Positive Attitude: A friendly demeanor and neat appearance are essential as you interact with customers and colleagues.
• Ability to Work in a Non-Climate-Controlled Environment: Comfort working in a dynamic setting where temperatures may vary is required.
• Safety Compliance: You must be able to understand and follow all company safety directives.

Availability: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
