Position: Retail Keyholder
Reports To: Retail Store Manager
The Retail Keyholder plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our stores, supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in creating a welcoming environment for customers and donors. Through leadership, teamwork, and exceptional customer service, the Keyholder upholds our mission and values while contributing to the success of our retail operations.
As a Keyholder, you’ll assist in opening and closing the store, supervising staff, and maintaining operational efficiency. Your positive attitude and commitment to our principles will inspire others, ensuring our store is a place of community and service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision:
- Serve as a role model by demonstrating commitment to the mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul.
- Act as the store leader in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager.
- Provide guidance and direction to staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Assist in training and mentoring new employees, particularly cashiers and sales associates.
Customer Service:
- Welcome customers and donors warmly, fostering an inclusive and friendly atmosphere.
- Address customer questions and concerns with professionalism, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Promote loyalty programs and share the mission of St. Vincent de Paul with customers and donors.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Open and close the store following all safety and operational procedures.
- Prepare cash registers for daily operations and balance drawers at the end of shifts.
- Process transactions, refunds, and returns with accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee cash handling, including preparing bank deposits and securing daily funds.
- Maintain an organized and visually appealing sales floor, restocking items and assisting with merchandising and pricing.
- Accept and verify store deliveries, ensuring accuracy and condition of goods.
- Observe and report any suspicious behavior or safety concerns to management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a retail environment required; leadership experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and relationships with team members, customers, and donors.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with the capacity to motivate and guide others in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Proficiency in cash handling, including operating and troubleshooting registers, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Commitment to the mission, values, and culture of St. Vincent de Paul, with a focus on exceptional customer service.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple tasks.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on the sales floor, interacting with customers and team members, and performing light physical tasks, including restocking and cleaning.
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety standards, with the ability to enforce them effectively.
- Flexibility to handle occasional administrative tasks, such as balancing registers or preparing deposits.
