Work will be performed in multiple cities and towns at different worksites throughout South Dakota in the Lincoln, Clay, Hutchison, Moody, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner counties.
The type of work that Landscaping and groundskeeper workers will engage in is non-agricultural. Sodbusters is involved in landscaping and groundskeeping work on commercial and residential landscaping projects. These include, but are not limited to, landscaping or maintaining grounds of property using hand power tools or other equipment used in the landscaping profession. The workers typically perform various tasks, which may include any combination of sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units. Workers may also gather and remove litter and use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedges bush trimmers, or axes. Workers may also operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snowblowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws. The workers may also water lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, watering cans, prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chainsaws.
No diploma or degree is required, and Workers must have at least three months of experience in landscape techniques. Workers are needed to begin work on 04/01/2025 through 12/15/2025, and workers must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
There are fifteen (15) job openings for Landscaping and Groundskeeper workers for temporary, full-time employment.
Workers will be paid no less than $16.46 per/hour and $24.69 for all hours worked over 40 hours in one workweek; returning workers may be paid a higher wage rate due to experience, location, and merit. Overtime may be available but not guaranteed.
The employer will offer 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; depending on weather conditions, work on Saturdays may be required.
The employer will provide on-the-job training to use equipment and safety techniques properly.
The employer will assist the workers with housing accommodations by helping them contact local rental agencies.
The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Workers will be paid bi-weekly by check. The employer will make all deductions from the worker’s paycheck required by law. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for the worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The transportation payment or reimbursement amount will equal the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least 15.88 p/day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 p/day with receipts.
The employer will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no charge.
The employer will provide daily transportation to and from the job site by providing the workers with a vehicle. Workers will be able to use the vehicle for personal use, and the employer will maintain the maintenance, fuel, and insurance.
Workers will be provided with daily transportation to and from the designated pick-up location at the Tea, SD, main office. In the first workweek, workers will be reimbursed for all visas, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government.
