Job Overview:
The Restaurant/Quick Service Cashier at Shedd Aquarium is essential in providing efficient, friendly, and accurate customer service, handling transactions, and ensuring a positive guest experience. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Cashier will adhere to cash-handling procedures and maintain high standards for service quality and safety. This role requires an enthusiastic individual who is committed to contributing to the success of Sodexo Live! and Shedd Aquarium's mission, vision, and values.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Guest Service Excellence: Provide outstanding, personable service to all Quick Serve customers, creating a welcoming and memorable experience for each guest.
- Accurate Sales Transactions: Process customer sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to company policies and procedures to maintain accountability.
- Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure all quality and safety standards are maintained, from food handling to transaction accuracy, supporting a safe environment for both guests and team members.
- Guest Satisfaction & Teamwork: Contribute to a goal of 100% customer satisfaction through a commitment to teamwork, engaging service, and a positive attitude.
- Safety & Cleanliness Standards: Consistently maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment, following Sodexo Live!'s safety protocols.
- Problem Solving & Memorable Experiences: Act as a passionate problem solver and memory maker, going the extra mile to create a warm, welcoming experience for every guest, whether local or visiting.
Key Attributes & Qualifications:
- Certification: TIPS or TEAM trained or equivalent certification preferred as well as Illinois Basset training for those 21 years of age or older.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfortable operating a POS system and digital register for smooth transaction processing.
- Professional & Friendly Demeanor: You project a positive and approachable attitude that enhances each guest interaction, creating meaningful connections with visitors of all backgrounds.
- Can-Do Spirit: Eager to provide exceptional service, you go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience for each guest, demonstrating adaptability and attention to detail.
- Multi-Tasking & Fast-Paced Efficiency: Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy, high-energy environment.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Exhibits clear, patient, and engaging communication, with a natural ease in connecting with people and delivering superior guest service.
- Team Player & Independent Worker: Capable of working collaboratively in a team as well as independently, following written and verbal directions accurately.
Other Requirements:
- Able to operate safely and effectively in an environment with wet floors, temperature extremes, and noise, and can lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests.
