Job Description:
The Converting (CNV) Projects Engineer is responsible for managing large, technical projects in order to further the growth and success of the Sofidel’s manufacturing facilities. Within the company, CNV Machinery Specialists serve as the project manager over the course of the project lifecycle, from initial planning to implementation. The CNV Projects Engineer is responsible for the budget, schedule, and scope of the project while also completing various secondary functions, including developing vendor relationships, formal and informal communication with project stakeholders, and support functions for the manufacturing operations team.
The projects will require understanding of a wide range of technologies, such as tissue converting equipment, automated packaging systems, conveying equipment, automated guided vehicles, and robotics, as well as developing specific understanding of the tissue industry and the specific challenges presented by tissue converting equipment. As part of their role, CNV Projects Engineer may be involved with projects at any of Sofidel’s existing facilities throughout the US (Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Florida) and would play a key role in any future expansion plans undertaken by the company.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage the design and implementation of large capital investment projects, principally new automated tissue manufacturing lines. The involves numerous complex project management tasks, including;
- Equipment selection and purchasing, which involves initial Request for Quotes (RFQs), comparisons of alternative technological solutions, and equipment negotiations in coordination with the purchasing and accounting departments.
- Ownership of project budget throughout the project lifecycle.
- Line layout design using AutoCAD software, including responsibility for specific equipment layouts as well as the larger line layout within the manufacturing area.
- Evaluation, selection, and management of secondary vendors involved in implementation of project, such as mechanical/electrical installers, crane rigging teams, service technicians, etc.
- Supervision of installation site in order to ensure compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations, company policy, and delivery / quality of project objectives.
- In addition to the core duties of project management, the CNV Projects Engineer also performs various other duties as needed in order to help Sofidel achieve its strategic goals. These duties include, but are not limited to;
- Supervision of equipment audits and follow up after project delivery.
- Interact directly with both executive level management and day to day operators.
- Support the manufacturing plants in managing the day-to-day relationship with equipment suppliers.
- Assist with ongoing efforts at process improvements within the manufacturing facilities.
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- Familiar with the principles of manufacturing and automation.
- Familiar with the principles of project management
- Proficient use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access.
- Experience with AutoCAD LT or another computer-aided design program is preferred.
- Availability to travel frequently for extended period of time.
