Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and passionate Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our kayaking tours and programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, managing a team of guides and support staff, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, and maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability. The role requires a dynamic leader who is both customer-oriented and detail-driven, with a strong understanding of the ecotourism industry and outdoor adventure activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of kayaking guides and administrative staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment with company goals and safety standards.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff to ensure high-quality customer service and knowledge of environmental stewardship.
  • Maintain staff schedules and coordinate the allocation of resources for tours and events.

Customer Experience:

  • Oversee the booking system and ensure smooth coordination of tours.
  • Provide exceptional service to customers, addressing inquiries and resolving any issues.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and gather feedback to continually improve the experience.
  • Develop and implement special events or promotions that enhance customer engagement and brand loyalty.

Operations & Logistics:

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations of all kayaking excursions.
  • Manage equipment maintenance, safety checks, and inventory control.
  • Work with the Director of Operations to monitor financial performance and budget for tours, equipment, and staff.

Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship:

  • Implement and enforce sustainable practices that minimize the environmental impact of the business.
  • Educate staff and customers on local ecosystems, wildlife, and conservation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local environmental organizations to support conservation initiatives.

Marketing & Community Outreach:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote kayaking tours and company initiatives.
  • Represent the company at local events, fairs, and community gatherings to increase brand awareness.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and stakeholders to foster community involvement and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Recreation Management, Tourism, or related field (preferred not required).
  • Proven experience (3 years) in managing a team, preferably within the outdoor recreation, ecotourism, or hospitality industry (preferred not required).
  • Knowledge of kayaking and outdoor adventure activities.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Passion for the outdoors and creating meaningful, nature-based experiences (REQUIRED).
