Overview
Join our team as a Back of House Team Member, where you’ll play a key role in crafting our delicious ice creams and soft serves! This position is perfect for those passionate about food service and eager to learn the art of ice cream production.
You’ll be responsible for food prep, machine maintenance, and ensuring our kitchen stays organized and up to standard. If you’re looking for hands-on experience in crafting Asian ice creams and soft serves, we'd love to hear from you!
Flexible schedule is required as cleaning shifts are done outside of operating hours (typically before store openings).
Must be willing to work multiple locations. Primary locations will be Flushing (Tangram Mall), our upcoming LIC location, and Kips Bay during peak seasons. Candidates open to working in Manhattan as well will be given priority.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to keep ice creams and soft serve mixes stocked and ready.
- Hand scoop ice cream tubs (Tangram/Kips Bay) and prepare soft serve mixes at other locations.
- Prep ingredients like cutting cakes, brownies, and crushing cookies for mix-ins.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following food safety and DOH guidelines.
- Perform weekly soft serve machine cleanings outside of operating hours.
What you'll bring:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Food Handler’s Certification (required); Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential - if you currently do not possess the certification, we request that you complete the lessons and schedule the exam within a month of employment; test will be reimbursed and a $1 raise will be granted upon passing
- Basic knife skills and ability to work with machines for prep and cleaning.
- Strong attention to detail - measuring ingredients, following recipes, and ensuring consistency.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. Assist FOH staff with troubleshooting questions once trained.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills are a must, as you’ll be handling ice cream production, ingredient preparation, and maintaining a smooth workflow.
- A passion for food service and a willingness to learn new skills in the culinary field.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs - ice cream and ingredients can get heavy!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
