Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join our dynamic and sophisticated Trusts & Estates practice in our Hartford office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in estate and trust administration, with additional experience in fiduciary administration and/or accounting being a plus. This role offers significant responsibility, hands-on experience, and substantial client interaction within a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare probate pleadings, including petitions, inventories, accountings, and final reports.
- Assist in the identification, collection, and valuation of estate and trust assets.
- Handle fiduciary accounting and maintain financial records for estates and trusts.
- Prepare estate, gift, and income tax returns in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Communicate with clients, attorneys, financial institutions, and court personnel.
- Assist in the coordination of estate administration, trust funding, and distributions.
- Ensure compliance with probate court rules, estate tax regulations, and trust administration best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
✅ Experience: Minimum 5 years of estate and trust administration experience.
✅ Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel; experience with fiduciary accounting software is a plus.
✅ Legal & Tax Knowledge: Familiarity with probate proceedings, fiduciary administration, and estate tax filings.
✅ Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills for client interaction and legal correspondence.
✅ Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
✅ Teamwork & Independence: Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
