Role Summary

As a Python API Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of API integrations across a vast network of cloud applications, databases, and automation-driven AI tools. You will be responsible for crafting highly efficient API architectures, enabling seamless interoperability between legacy systems and advanced machine learning tools that power underwriting and claims processing.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned API engineer with a track record of success in developing and deploying data integrations across AWS, Oracle databases, RESTful API ecosystems, and various cloud-based platforms. This is an opportunity to operate with a high degree of autonomy, engage directly with key business stakeholders, and execute solutions with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize RESTful APIs that seamlessly integrate data sources across AWS, Oracle, and various cloud applications.
• Design and implement scalable API pipelines for automation and AI-powered underwriting and claims processing solutions.
• Develop robust Python-based data extraction processes, interfacing with complex databases and external systems.
• Optimize API performance, security, and reliability, ensuring minimal latency and maximum efficiency.
• Collaborate with AI, automation, and DevOps teams to ensure API functionality aligns with next-generation machine learning tools.
• Execute with independence and speed, delivering solutions that require little to no handholding.
• Identify bottlenecks in data transfer and develop solutions to enhance overall system responsiveness.
• Engage with business stakeholders to translate technical requirements into actionable engineering solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5 years of hands-on experience in Python API engineering with a focus on system integrations.
• Expertise in AWS services and cloud-based data architectures, including API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
• Proven experience working with REST APIs and JSON-based integrations.
• Advanced knowledge of Oracle databases, including structured query development and optimization.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML integration principles, especially in automation-heavy environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver results at a rapid pace.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of API security best practices.
• Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is a plus.
