- API Testing - familiarity with REST APIs , the HTTP protocol, methods, headers, encodings, etc.
- UI Testing - familiarity with writing browser-based tests, page-object-model, multi-browser, multi-threaded testing, synchronization (waiting for the browser to finish loading), etc.
- Performance / Load Testing - familiarity with concepts and challenges associated with high-volume traffic production, and why it matters
- Test Identification - able to translate requirements and design into specific test cases to ensure correct function, not just happy path, but also negative, boundary, malformed inputs, and so on
- Defect Reporting - effectively communicate issues, steps to reproduce, impact, priority, possible causes, workarounds, etc.
- Risk Mitigation - able to identify project risks, their severity, likelihood, and how to prioritize testing to mitigate the highest risks first
- a Java based testing framework, such as JUnit 5, JUnit 4, TestNG, etc.
- a Java based assertion library, such as Hamcrest, AssertJ, etc.
- a Java based HTTP library, such as RestAssured, Jersey, Apache HttpClient, etc.
- a UI Testing framework, like Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
- writing load tests using Gatling, either in Scala or Java - JMeter or SoapUI experience is better than nothing
- Unix/Linux and shell scripting
- SQL, direct and indirect through ORM libraries
- Value and write self-documenting code - not COMMENTED code, but self-documenting code, where the intention of the code is as clear as what it does
- Is familiar with and can write highly readable, fluent interfaces - more than just call chaining, but context-sensitive return types
- Understand thread-safety and how to write tests that can execute in parallel
- Have a strong understanding of the HTTP and REST protocols and related technologies
- Have AWS Experience - familiar with the different components and their function, e.g. ALB, EC2, ECS, Fargate, SQS, etc.
- Have Authentication / Authorization domain expertise - SAML, OIDC, OAuth, Basic Auth, Challenge/Response, etc.
- Be Scrum certified
