Responsibilities :
- Plays a critical role in delivering data-focused technology solutions to drive firm's businesses activities. Specifically, the Data Engineering practice, known as Information Services Group (ISG), has a responsibility to provide centralized data and operations platforms spanning reference data (accounts, documents, securities, pricing, corporate actions, legal agreements), transactions, and lending services.
- In addition to supporting domain-specific data and operational requirements, at a broader level, ISG provides the tooling driving Data Governance activities for firm. Data Catalog is a centralized metadata solution to be leveraged by up to 8,000 applications to store, govern, and access metadata for their systems. Metadata includes the information about the data stored and used by an application, such as data dictionaries, data models, data lineage between systems, business glossaries, quality rules, data ownership and authorization, etc. This information is essential to promote knowledge sharing and transfer by interested parties, and to ensure compliance with Data Governance policies set by firm's Chief Data Office (CDO). Beyond supporting data discovery, the Data Catalog tools and standardized metadata are systemically consumed and used to drive data transfer in multiple formats between systems within the firm, as well as externally to Cloud-based solutions used by firm's clients.
- We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our global team of talented technical onboarding specialists to educate, influence, and support users with onboarding and utilizing Data Catalog tools to satisfy their business and technical metadata requirements.
- Produce and maintain written documentation and scripted demos for new product features.
- Provide second-level (L2) support to end-users, as well as maintain run books for first-level (L1) support teams to follow.
- Partner with development team & product management BA team members to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer for new product enhancements, L3 escalations, feedback sharing, etc.
- Build relationships with end-user groups to promote increased usage of Data Catalog capabilities and solicit new use-cases.
- Partner with project management team members to handover new use-case requirements from existing users, and to introduce new users to Data Catalog through guided product demonstrations.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis queries.
- Design reports (metrics, operational, quality, etc.) for internal and external consumption.
- Coordinate and communicate system changes as part of release management duties.
- Bachelor of Science or Master's degree from a leading university.
- 7 years total work experience with a proven track-record of stability and growth.
- Strong communication skills - written and spoken along with Strong Presentation Skills
- Should have the ability to understand different types of APIs, including RESTful APIs, SOAP APIs.
- Should have good understanding of one of the programming languages like Java, Python, and JavaScript, and familiar with API protocols (HTTP/HTTPS) and data formats (JSON, XML)
- Should have good SQL skills for ad-hoc data analysis.
- Rich experience in a technology organization, specifically software development.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where fire-drill assignments are not uncommon.
- Uses diplomacy to maintain high client satisfaction levels.
- Eagerness to engage in thoughtful debate and challenge the status quo.
- Organized, and possesses a data and system-driven mindset and approach to work.
- Keen ability to eliminate noise and simplify problems, ideas, and communications.
- Puts the project and team as a priority.
- Experience in Data Governance/Data Modeling/support role is a plus.
