Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Director (Resort Renovation & Design) for a CONTRACT TIME assignment with one of our premier Hospitality clients in Orlando, FL.
**When not traveling, this position is hybrid- 3 days in the Orlando office, 2 days WFH**
Responsibilities:
As the Director of Architectural Interior Design, you will lead the design and oversight of daily activities and strategic decisions for renovations, new developments, and capital projects, ensuring that all work aligns with Travel Leisure and Wyndham Destinations' standards and meets stakeholder expectations. This role requires the leadership of cross-functional teams, including developers, contractors, architects, designers, resort managers, association board members, operational leaders, project managers, procurement teams, internal department associates, and vendors. You will drive the design vision while maintaining exceptional communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in architecture, design, and project management with the proven ability to oversee multiple high-stakes projects.

- Project Leadership: Directly oversee and manage third-party architects, engineers, and interior designers, ensuring that project budgets, timelines, standards, and scope/design intent are rigorously met.
- Strategic Planning & Coordination: Lead the development of design and project schedules, ensuring timely and coordinated execution across internal departments and external stakeholders.
- Review & Analysis: Lead the review and analysis of proposals, design documents, and technical drawings at all phases to guarantee the highest quality and compliance with project goals.
- Budget & Bid Management: Review and approve vendor and contractor bids to ensure alignment with project budgets and quality standards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and deliver detailed project status reports to internal stakeholders, offering clear updates on project progress, budgets, and timelines.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, budgets, and critical files, ensuring proper coordination and reference for the project lifecycle.
- Project Closeout & Handover: Lead the job closeout process, overseeing the turnover of as-built drawings, warranties, operations & maintenance manuals, and vendor/contractor lists to operations.
- Construction Administration: Act as the primary point of contact for construction administration on behalf of ownership, ensuring that all projects are executed to specifications and contractual agreements.
Required Skills:
- Travel Flexibility: The Strategic Development team services resorts across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. You must be prepared for site visits, with approximately 35% travel required. Flexibility to travel on short notice and possess a passport for international travel is essential.
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in interior design, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited program is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Industry Experience : 12 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality Interior Design or Architecture, including significant management experience. Direct experience in new hospitality construction is essential, and experience in hospitality renovations is highly desirable.
- Leadership & Decision-Making: Ability to think strategically, make timely decisions, and lead internal team members and third-party consultants effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: A strong team player who understands the significance of each position in achieving successful project delivery and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Exemplary writing and verbal communication skills are essential, as this role is deeply reliant on effective stakeholder communication and negotiation.
- Construction Knowledge: Deep familiarity with construction management, including construction terminology, codes, life safety regulations, construction documents, sequencing, and a full understanding of project delivery from concept to closeout.
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, budgets, and legal/contractual documentation with a keen eye for detail.
- Reserve Programs Knowledge: Familiarity with reserve programs, useful life expectations, and the value of interior/exterior components in the context of capital planning.
- Team Leadership : Proven ability to lead, supervise, and guide design and engineering teams through the entirety of the project lifecycle, ensuring excellence in design execution.
- Consultant Management: Establish and maintain relationships with external design firms and consultants, ensuring a reliable network of qualified professionals for project execution.
- Technological Proficiency: Strong experience with design and construction software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & InDesign is a plus.
- Project Management Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with project management software such as Procore is highly advantageous.
