Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Perform detailed technical reviews and approve tax returns and government tax examinations of intricate nature.
- Function as a subject matter expert in specified disciplines or industries.
- Ensure all client-related tasks are completed within budgeted time frames.
- Take on full responsibility for comprehensive tax returns and delegate tasks as needed to appropriate tax preparers.
- Actively participate in client meetings and assist the Audit and Assurance (A&A) Department with tax planning for major clients.
- Provide expert advice and serve as a primary resource on specific tax issues for tax preparers / specialists and A&A staff.
- Manage client services for direct clients and those delegated by Partners.
- Inform relevant firm personnel of significant tax and legislative developments affecting clients.
- Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations and represent clients before taxing authorities when required.
- Monitor the qualifications of all tax staff members and manage appropriate assigning of tasks.
- Involve in developing well-trained, skilled staff by participating in recruitment, conducting performance evaluations, and developing training programs.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
- Stay updated with general economic and political trends and potential legislation that could impact the business environment.
- Engage in firm practice development efforts by networking with referral sources and participating in community and industry activities.
- Mentor and develop tax department staff through direct coaching and training.
- Review and contribute to the evaluations of the tax department's operations and strategies.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings, seminars, and training.
- Prepare for significant overtime work during busy seasons, particularly from January 1 to April 15, with work hours possibly extending beyond 55 hours per week.
