Job Description:
- As a Sr. Specialist, you will have a strong knowledge of RF and Antenna Design.
- You will have a broad knowledge of how to work on and manage complex antenna development projects.
- In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating RF & microwave devices and systems with a focus on antennas.
- An RF & Antenna Engineer ensures product designs meet company and/or customer requirements in terms of costs, results, and manufacturability of end products.
Essential Functions:
- Development responsibilities include the design of VHF, UHF, and microwave antennas as well as passive, linear components including baluns, power dividers, diplexers, impedance matching networks, hybrids, and filters.
- Application of RF system engineering principles in analysis and derivation of subsystem requirements and subsequent flow down for apertures and RF distribution networks for use with receivers, tuners, signal processors, and other components of the RF network.
- Effectively transfer antenna designs to manufacturing and ensure products meet specifications and quality requirements.
- Ensure designs are suitable for production manufacturing.
- RF & Antenna Engineers are expected to support or lead the generation of specification and test documents, create original electrical designs, work jointly with Mechanical Engineering, CAD Designers, Machine Shop, and Manufacturing to ensure efficient manufacturing of hardware.
- Conduct and supervise prototype development and testing using state-of-the-art testing facilities.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals including design concepts, costing, writing sections, and making presentations to management and customers.
Qualifications:
- BSEE (MSEE preferred) with a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of antennas, phased arrays, beamformers, transmission line theory, and passive RF circuit design.
- A familiarity with the characteristics and design of various antenna types such as uniform or tapered slot, cavity-backed aperture, broadband, wire, and microstrip.
- Hands-on experience performing S-parameter measurements and antenna pattern/gain measurements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Matlab.
- Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance.
- Available to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends, and travel on occasion.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with antenna modeling, with one or more Computational Electromagnetic codes such as Ansys HFSS, CST, and FEKO.
- Experience working at an antenna test range (Far-Field Anechoic Chamber, CATR, Outdoor test range).
- Experience working in an Engineering Lab environment.
