NDOT utilizes Agile development methodology.
- Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or hold a Technical Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent combination of education and minimum 5 years development experience).
- Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business.
- Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services.
- Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects.
- Perform daily tasks of analysis, programming and testing as needed.
- Assist with; capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development.
- Maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Department's Information Systems.
- Must have most recent experience within the last year coding programs in COBOL.
- Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 accessing by programs, writing queries in QMF and creating tables is required.
- Experience with JCL and job scheduling is required.
- Experience in software development utilizing Agile with SCRUM is desired but not required.
- Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Extremely detailed oriented and able to follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidate is offered hybrid work schedule with 2 days on-site at Department of Transportation, Lincoln, NE. (no exceptions)
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
