Sojourn at Senecca Behavioral Hospital -

SUMMARY PERFORMANCE DESCRPITION : Coordinate or complete, as required, performance improvement and risk management activities and tasks among staff and with entities inside the organization – using best practices within the field – in order to comply with accreditation and licensing standards.

Schedule regular meetings with program staff, in order to ensure the presence and use of a planned, systematic approach to identify, prioritize and assess appropriate performance improvement activities.

Contribute to identification and design of performance improvement initiatives as well as the assessment of progress, by assuming an active, involved role with program staff.

Ensure that education and in-service training on various aspects of performance improvement is provided to staff.   Using manuals and guidelines, prepare, monitor, lead, and ensure organizational compliance with applicable JCAHO standards, licensing and certification requirements, and directives promulgated by the Hospital in order to assist the hospital in retaining accreditation and licensure.

Participate in scheduled compliance meetings / conference calls to keep abreast of and use best practices.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT :   Pleasant indoor environment within the program and the Hospital.  Worker may possibly be subjected to escorting temperature changes and be exposed to adverse environmental conditions when transporting / escorting patients.  Moderate physical activity.  Some hazard potential from possibility of physical acting out behavior of patients and health related communicable diseases.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB : Ability to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinions.

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and / or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.  Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.  Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db loss @ 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound.  Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.

Individual must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients within the facility and in therapeutic activities.  While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as they work predominantly inside.

Must be able to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients; maintain therapeutic boundaries during treatment and following discharge.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS : State registration with a LCSW, RN or equivalent

EDUCATION :   Must be a graduate of one of the following :

State Accredited School of Nursing (Bachelors)

State Accredited School of Clinical Social Work (Masters)

State Accredited School of Psychology (Masters)

Requires a RN License
