Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Litigation Attorney to join the legal team with our client, an investment bank. The successful candidate will handle a broad range of complex litigation matters, including disputes related to financial services, regulatory investigations, securities laws, commercial contracts, and corporate governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage litigation matters, including pre-litigation strategy, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
- Collaborate with outside counsel on major litigation and regulatory investigations.
- Advise senior management and business units on legal risks related to ongoing and potential disputes.
- Oversee legal aspects of regulatory matters, including SEC and FINRA investigations and enforcement actions.
- Assist with internal investigations, focusing on potential regulatory violations or misconduct.
- Provide advice on complex contract disputes, class action lawsuits, and shareholder disputes.
- Analyze and mitigate litigation risks in various business areas, including capital markets, investment banking, asset management, and private equity.
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda.
- Manage litigation budgets and outside counsel relationships effectively and efficiently.
- Stay current on developments in securities laws, financial regulations, and industry trends that may impact litigation.
- Hybrid work arrangement with two days remote
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Experience: 3-8 years of litigation experience, preferably with experience at a big law firm or in-house at a financial services or investment bank.
- Skills:
- Expertise in securities litigation, regulatory investigations, or complex financial services disputes.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience managing settlement discussions.
- Ability to manage multiple high-stakes matters simultaneously.
- A team-oriented and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- License: Admission to New York Bar
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling disputes involving financial products, such as derivatives, M&A, securities offerings, and investment advisory.
- Experience with global litigation and cross-border matters.
- Familiarity with internal corporate governance processes and regulatory compliance issues.
