What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Engineer position at SOLA Environmental?
SOLA Environmental is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our growing team in Birmingham, Alabama. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biosystems, Chemical or Environmental Engineering and have up to 2 years of relevant air quality permitting and compliance experience. Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the candidate will use air quality permitting and modeling to find compliance solutions for clients in areas of permitting and regulatory compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct air quality analyses, assess regulatory compliance, and perform regulatory applicability evaluations.
- Develop complete and accurate air quality permits for Title V, PSD, and New Source Review compliance.
- Prepare emission inventory reports; quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts.
- Evaluate air pollution control technologies, including technical and economic feasibility of air pollution control equipment.
- Implement climate change projects, such as greenhouse gas inventories, emission reductions, energy efficiency, public disclosure, and verification.
- Assist clients with MACT compliance programs.
- Implement environmental compliance management systems and processes.
- Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Biosystems, Chemical or Environmental Engineering from a four-year college or university or foreign equivalent.
- Up to 2 years of experience in Environmental Consulting
- Computer literacy, including basic programming, word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software package.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
