Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and immediate work direction of a Lead Custodian, perform a variety of custodial duties related to maintaining assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition.Incumbents assigned to the Custodian classification perform varied custodial duties related to maintaining District facilities in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Incumbents assigned to the Lead Custodian classification oversee and provide work direction and guidance to assigned custodians and participate in a variety of custodial duties to ensure that District facilities are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. Working from a prepared work schedule, perform a variety of custodial duties related to maintaining assigned rooms, buildings, facilities and related areas in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, oil, buff and seal floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs and carpets. Dust, wash and polish furniture, woodwork and metal work; wash windows, walls and mirrors; clean chalkboards and erasers. Clean restroom sinks and toilets; clean shower facilities and locker rooms as assigned; fill paper and soap dispensers; empty and clean waste receptacles. Perform minor non-technical repairs such as replacing light bulbs and tubes, adjusting desks and other furniture and adjusting shades and blinds. Assist in preparing and setting up facilities for meetings and special events; unlocks and lock doors to buildings; move, arrange and remove furniture, staging, bleachers and equipment; set-up sound equipment for classrooms or special usage; clean facilities after events. Pick up trash from grounds and exterior areas; empty garbage and trash cans; operate a utility cart and\or pick-up truck to deliver or pick up supplies or equipment and to collect trash; may assist in receiving, storing and inventorying supplies. Report safety or security issues to Lead Custodian or supervisor. Perform related duties as assigned.
